The only criterion for inclusion in this list that the book be science-fiction. It can be hard sci-fi, soft sci-fi, young adult, borderline-fantasy, long, short, classic, contemporary, etc. It doesn't even matter if I've read it before. Anybody can make suggestions for the list, but only I have the dictatorial authority to actually add anything.
DRAGONFLIGHT by Anne McCaffrey DUNE by Frank Herbert LORD OF LIGHT by Roger Zelazny THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS by Robert A. Heinlein RINGWORLD by Larry Niven SHARDS OF HONOR by Lois McMaster Bujold SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE by Kurt Vonnegut SOLARIS by Stanislaw Lem THE SONGS OF DISTANT EARTH by Arthur C. Clarke STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert A. Heinlein VALIS by Philip K. Dick

I would like to add Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey to the official list. Its a book that I've always wanted to read. It's listed as sci-fi on wikipedia so it should count.

Even though I'm pretty sure it's more fantasy than sci-fi, I'm okay with adding it. I've never read anything by Anne McCaffrey, and according to Wikipedia, there is time travel involved.

Maybe too much of a classic but I've had dune on my re-read list for awhile now.
I've been curious about the vorkosigan saga since some have won awards and I loved the authors fantasy books. But I read one book and am still on the fence.
I read 'The moon is a harsh mistress' recently and it would be a good candidate.

I also read 'Doomsday book' recently and it sticks with you a bit.
